Christina Gagnier leads the Intellectual Property, Internet & Technology practice at Gagnier Margossian LLP, with a specialization in copyright, information privacy and social media.
Gagnier consults technology companies on policy issues ranging from patent law reform to communications issues, such as Network Neutrality. Gagnier’s primary research concerns issues of cyber rights and the intersection of on and offline action.
Gagnier researched at Stanford Law School for Professor Lawrence Lessig, working on Code 2.0 and Remix: Making Art and Commerce Thrive in the Hybrid Economy. Gagnier also served as the Chief Information Officer at Mobilize.org, a national civic engagement organization dedicated to Millennial Generation advocacy and public policy.
Christina blogs in the Technology section of The Huffington Post, serves as the host for TechWire on the California Channel, is a columnist on legal ethics on the web and Internet law topics for California Lawyer and has been a contributor to Above the Law and CBS News’ What’s Trending.
She is frequently invited to sit on panels and has spoken on critical issues such as international data privacy before the International Telecommunications Union and at conferences such as SXSW Interactive. She has been a guest commentator on TV shows like Russia Today’s CrossTalk, CCTV’s Biz Asia America and NBC’s Press: Here and has been interviewed by MSNBC, The Atlantic, Politico, Ars Technica, Inc.com and The New York Times.
Gagnier is one of Broadband for America’s Faces of Innovation and led the digital literacy startup TRAIL to the 2013 TechCrunch Startup Battlefield.
Gagnier earned a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine, a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco.
She sits on the Board of Directors of Without My Consent, tackling issues like revenge porn, and serves as a Trustee of The Bay Guild.
