Dr. Sesen Negash is an associate professor and director in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at San Diego State University and co-director of the Center for Achieving Black Wellness and Anti-Racist Education. She earned her Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy (MFT) from Florida State University and a master’s degree in child development and family studies from Purdue University Northwest. Before her current position, she was faculty at Alliant International University in San Diego. She is also a licensed MFT, a clinical fellow with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and an approved supervisor with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and AAMFT. Dr. Negash has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles in top MFT, sexuality, and psychology journals. Her program of research examines close relationships and barriers to family therapy post-incarceration, as well as the interpersonal implications of infidelity and pornography on monogamous dating relationships. Her work has received national mention in several media publications, including Men’s Health, The Daily Beast, The New York Times, GQ, and Business Insider.
