Laila Alawa shares her passion for amplifying and elevating the voices, stories, and realities of multicultural and often underrepresented women around the world through the media.
Laila is a social entrepreneur, cultural commentator, and CEO and founder of The Tempest, the leading tech and media company that’s changing the global narrative of diverse millennial women. In 2018, she was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 for elevating the voices of women of all ethnicities around the world. Laila is also the host of The Exposé, a podcast tackling contemporary topics with wit and brutal honesty. Named as an Ariane de Rothschild Fellow and nominated Changemaker for the United State of Women White House Summit, Laila graduated from Wellesley College.
As an American Muslim woman and rising media mogul, Laila adds an eloquent, outspoken, often humor-filled outlook to the lessons she shares as the leader of a multicultural media company. With her finger on the pulse of issues affecting women today, she provides insights that enable others to harness their own life experiences – and the media – to catalyze social, cultural, and political change.
