Bio

María Antonia García de la Torre is a well known Colombian journalist and college professor of Spanish Literature in the U.S. She has written for El Tiempo (Bogotá) since 2007 and she collaborates occasionally at The New York Times.

García de la Torre holds a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Masters in Journalism from San Pablo CEU and El Mundo in Madrid. She grew up in Bogotá, Colombia and lived in Italy and Spain before transferring definitely to Nebraska where she now teaches and writes. She has a strong voice in social networks such as Twitter where she has over 71K followers. She is a political analyst, a columnist, a writer, with three books published, including a memoir about her experience in Nebraska, "Campos de Pop Corn". She has been published in Spanish, English and Italian, languages in which she is fluent. She is passionate about the #MeToo movement and about the best ways to bring it to her home country.
