Marlene Mahurin has a passion for helping young adults plan and prepare for their futures. Marlene created Time for the Talk: A Parent/Child Sex Education Program. Her revolutionary program for families helps them open the lines of communication, on potentially embarrassing topics, and learn ways to prepare for the challenges of the teen years. She is passionate about helping parents take an active role in their children’s sex education, rather than leaving it up to the schools or media. To reach even more families, Marlene co-founded Time for the Talk Online. Now families throughout the country have access to her comprehensive sex education program.
Marlene is also a sought-after Cybersafety Educator. Her unique approach empowers tweens to take control of their digital lives and create digital footprints they can feel proud of. Her parent/child programs are unique since she includes the parents, who often have no idea about their children’s digital lives. She works with families throughout her community and is preparing to launch an online Cybersafety Program for schools and families in the Fall of 2014.
Marlene has a BA in Communication from UC, Santa Barbara and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Humboldt State University.
She produces a bi-monthly parenting blog and podcast through her website, www.timeforthetalk.com
She has been featured in The Union, The Auburn Journal, See Jane Do and Family Confidential. She has spoken at the APlus+ Charter School Conference and the San Ramon Parenting Conference.
