Palang Kasmi is a very confident, determined, independent and highly motivated print Journalist covering development stories, ranging from human rights, women, health, gender, environment, politics, education, social and cultural issues, with an experience spanning for 18 years. She is editor women, gender and health desk, at the THE NIGERIA STANDARD/SUNDAY STANADAD Newspapers, Jos.
Born and raised in Jos, Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, she is a columnist for 3 publications and an Author who has published a book titled “Realm of Realities”, a compendium of social issues inspired by her columns, aside many unpublished works (in view).
Passionate about her job and result oriented, she is also a consultant for “Inspire Magazine” and contributor to news/social/development commentaries on PRTVC Radio. Palang holds a degree (B.A) in Mass Communication and (M.A) in mass communication (in view). Palang is a go-getter whose zeal for her job earned her a Travel Grant Award/camera by INTERNEWS Nigeria in August 2007, for a one-week trip to Kaduna state, Northern Nigeria, to write 3 health stories. She is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, National Association of Women Journalists, THE NIGERIAN STANDARD/SUNDAY STANDARD Newspapers Editorial board.
Her interest as communication professional includes, development reporting, social activism and mentoring forums. Palang has thrived intellectually, stimulating and mentoring Mass Communication students on Industrial Attachment in her media organization. She has equally organized a mentoring/inspiring show for “Inspire Magazine” to motivate children in an orphanage home to pursue their dreams.
