Regina LaBelle is a Distinguished Scholar and Program Director of the Addiction and Public Policy Initiative at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University Law Center. She is also founder, director, and an adjunct professor in the Master of Science in Addiction Policy and Practice program at Georgetown University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. At Georgetown University, Regina's work is focused on building the addiction policy workforce and advancing evidence based policy responses to addiction.
A skilled public official, Regina was appointed Acting Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in the first year of the Biden Administration. In this role, Ms. LaBelle testified before committees in both the US Senate and US House of Representatives. In the Obama Administration, Regina served as Chief of Staff and senior policy advisor at ONDCP. There, she oversaw the Agency’s efforts to address the overdose epidemic and other drug policy issues, including implementation of the National Drug Control Strategy.
Regina was legal counsel to Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels where she provided legal and policy advice to the Mayor. Ms. LaBelle was an adjunct professor of policy and ethics at the Seattle University Institute for Policy Studies.
A frequent media commentator on opioid and addiction issues, Regina has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN's Washington Journal.
She received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center and her BA from Boston College. LaBelle is an active member of the Washington State Bar.
